Rising Sun will provide enough energy to provide all of Provost’s electrical needs. The excess energy will be sold into the Alberta power grid. Expanding our energy options is essential for creating new forms of prosperity, giving Albertans more power to do what they do best—innovate.

Using 600 acres of lower-yielding land unsuitable for traditional farming, our agrovoltaic approach combines solar panels with sheep grazing to boost sustainability. The sheep help manage vegetation naturally, reducing the need for herbicides and lawn mowing, which can kick up stones and damage panels while preventing overgrowth that could block sunlight from reaching the solar panels. This innovative approach reduces land degradation and maximizes land efficiency, supporting renewable energy and sustainable agriculture in harmony with the environment.
The production lifespan for the Rising Sun solar project is measured in decades, and our partnership with the local farmers will serve as a model for sustainable land-use, provide economic prosperity to the community, allow farmers to control how their land is best utilized.
The energy produced by Rising Sun will contribute to the ever-growing electricity needs of homeowners and businesses in the Provost province, while reducing the carbon footprint on the existing power grid.
As electricity demand continues to rise in Alberta, so does the need to develop long-term environmentally responsible power generation options. The Rising Sun solar project is expected to provide power to the grid for over 20 years while maintaining farming operations on the land its situated on.
